There are over 140 blocks in our neighborhood. These blocks and the block captains serve as a touch-point for our Association to the community at large. 

Block Captain Roles: 

  1. Collect flower basket donations: usually collected October-December each year. Donations of any size are welcome. Donations offset direct costs of a basket, ensure a flower basket is installed on the block, and help with maintenance (watering) expenses. 
  2. Coordinate general communication between block/neighbors and DMPA: occasional messages are delivered via block captains to the neighbors. 
  3. Host block parties: from time to time: formal and informal gatherings to let neighbors get to know each other. The city of Omaha allows blocks to be closed with a special permit.
  4. Neighborhood Watch Coordinator: where applicable, fulfill the neighborhood watch guidelines as directed by the Omaha Police Department.
